If you are travelling from one country that is part of the Schengen agreement to another country in the zone you don’t necessarily need a Schengen visa. However, if you are travelling from a non-Schengen country to a Schengen country you will need to apply for a Schengen visa. For the application you will need to provide your travel insurance documents as they are necessary to get the visa issued. As an example, if you are travelling from Russia to France you will need your Schengen short stay visa. The French visa requirements include: a valid passport for at least 3 months following the date of the requested visa, a signed and completed visa application form, 3 x photographs meeting the requirements, application fee and any visa application forms for a child under the age of 18 to be signed by parent or legal guardian. All of these are vital in order to get your application approved. Any queries should be directed to the French embassy.

Italy operates slightly differently. So, if outside the Schengen zone and travelling to Italy you will find there are different requirements. The issue of the visa will depend on the stability of your country, your own citizenship and the duration and reasons for your stay. You will still need to file a visa application and have a valid passport, recent photograph and suitable travel and repatriation insurance. Any queries should be directed to the Italian embassy.
